Huangpu Wenchong Delivers Another 1900 TEU Container Vessel to BRIESE
On September 4, 2023, Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard, a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Group, successfully delivered the second vessel "BALTRUM" (H2410), a 1900 TEU container ship built in batches for RIESE SCHIFFAHRT company in Germany.
Representatives from Germany's BRIESE company, China Shipbuilding Industrial Trading Company, and China Shipbuilding Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard signed the delivery documents in the presence of various guests.
"BALTRUM" is a self-developed "Honghu 1900 TEU" ship type by Huangpu Wenchong. The ship has a length of 172 meters, a width of 27.5 meters, a molded depth of 14.6 meters, a design draught of 8.5 meters, and a design speed of 18.5 knots. The cargo hold can accommodate 5 layers and 10 columns of standard containers, and the deck can stack 7 layers and 11 columns of standard containers. The nominal container capacity is 1930 TEU, and the capacity for 14-ton heavy containers is 1350 TEU, with a maximum load weight of 24,300 tons. The fuel consumption per container has decreased by nearly 8% compared to the previous generation product, and the EEDI index has reached stage 3 or above. The vessel is equipped with a desulfurization system to meet the requirements of IMO's global sulfur emission limits. It is a technologically economical and environmentally friendly green container ship. It has superior technical performance such as speed and fuel consumption, high economic efficiency, wide range of use on different shipping routes, and can meet frequent loading and unloading requirements. Compared with similar ship types, it has characteristics such as low fuel consumption, large container capacity, wide range of applicable routes, environmentally friendly, and high competitiveness, making it popular in the market. Currently, this ship type has become the company's main construction product.
The first ship in this batch order, "PANAY", was delivered on July 25, 2023. In just one and a half months, another high-quality product was delivered to the shipowner, demonstrating the advantages of batch construction.
It is reported that the construction of this ship started on October 12, 2022. Due to factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the early progress of this ship was slow. The project team relied on their experience, actively communicated with the shipowner, focused on implementing various small targets, and reversed the impact of the delayed plan. During the dry dock, the ship was measured while empty, and with a dock rating of 101.01 points, it set a record for the 2nd dock.
During the sea trial period, the project team learned from the experience of the previous ship and completed all tasks in just 70.5 hours. After returning triumphantly, they promptly addressed relevant feedback and efficiently completed the finishing work.
